Description
The Facilities Tech will serve as a key member of the maintenance team with a primary focus on maintaining, troubleshooting issues, and repairing of mechanical and electrical issues. Primary focus on HVAC troubleshooting and repair is required. Role will trouble shoot the electrical side of essential company equipment as well as make industrial refrigeration repairs. Additionally, tasks will be assigned daily to maintain campus grounds and assist facility team members with various projects. Pay Rate $35-$37/Hour
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Troubleshoot and maintain fleet of HVAC units across campus
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and replace or repair parts.
- Proactively perform regular preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment and facilities.
- Collect, analyze and summarize maintenance related information and trends to drive efficiencies, streamline processes and support business decisions.
- Assist in space changes and moves, as well as office furniture needs and ergonomics, including estimating costs, managing schedules, purchasing activities and installation.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC systems supporting laboratory spaces, including air handlers, chillers, VAV systems, and exhaust/ventilation units.
- Monitor and calibrate environmental controls to maintain precise temperature, humidity, and air quality standards required for lab operations and cleanroom environments.
- Support equipment performance validation, documentation, and compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, GMP, or biosafety requirements).
- Collaborate with engineering and facilities teams to optimize system efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and minimize downtime across critical lab infrastructure.
Requirements
Education and Training:
- Associates Degree or equivalent work experience in facilities maintenance
- Mechanical trade based experience
- HVAC repair knowledge and training preferred
Knowledge and skills:
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
- Basic computer knowledge
- Advanced data analysis using Excel or similar program
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead
- Service oriented attitude
- Self-motivated
- Able to maintain focus on key objectives
- Flexibility working alone or alongside team members
Experience:
- Prior experience in facilities related position
- Able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation system
- Experience repairing HVAC units preferred
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- Must pass drug test and background check
- EPA Certification is preferred but not required
- Previous maintenance role preferred
