Noll Employee Assessment

In addition to numerous testing and background checks, Noll offers clients an assessment that can accurately predict an individual’s performance in a specific position, industry, or company. The benefit of using this product is seen in reduced turnover and training costs, as well as fewer unemployment and workers’ compensation claims and less absenteeism. This assessment goes beyond traditional employment interviews and computer-generated profiles in identifying talents and strengths that have not yet been exhibited. It helps employers find that “diamond in the rough” who can develop into a key employee. We are accountable for results shared and seek actual performance feedback to continuously improve accuracy. Over 45 years of experience with this tool gives us a trove of data that makes the profile increasingly useful to clients in the real work world.

The Process

The personally conducted phone or in-person structured interview results in a behavioral profile that predicts 29 work-related traits and tendencies in the areas of management, sales, and support services. The interview can be given in a number of languages, using specialized interpreters.

Once the interview is completed, the candidate’s behavioral profile is analyzed for job, industry, and company fit. Because of the in-depth nature of the profile, it is extremely accurate, regardless of the industry or geographical area involved.

To expedite your decision-making process, verbal feedback on the behavioral profile is provided within 24 hours, followed by a written report. A trained analyst and consultant will be your personal guide to fully understanding the profile and how to use it for pre-hire selection, developmental coaching, and promotion.

Please Note: The interview and resulting profile are behavioral in nature-not clinical. They are not intended to be a measure of mental health but rather a source of information about how individuals are likely to perform in the workplace.

Professional Uses

Because the Noll profile measures a broad spectrum of traits, it can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

Employee Selection

The NOLL behavioral profile provides information about a potential employee in advance of hiring, that cannot be gleaned from traditional interviews. This enables you to make more intelligent hiring decisions and avoid costly mistakes. Our behavioral assessment can accurately predict an individual’s future performance in a specific industry, company, and position. The majority of profiles are done for pre-hire selection purposes.

Employee Development and Coaching

The behavioral assessment has uses beyond finding new employees. It can also help you better develop the employees that you already have. Interview reports provide information on job-related strengths, as well as areas needing management and development. This information enables a supervisor to effectively coach, counsel, and promote individuals to best accomplish the needs of the business as well as to maximize employee satisfaction, productivity, contribution, and retention.

Team Development

When working with a team, it’s helpful to have developmental appraisals for each team member. Sharing that information with the team helps them understand each other’s dominant strengths and the ways in which they can count on one another. This understanding can empower the team to be more effective.

Leadership Development

A critical part of leadership identification is knowing a person’s leadership style. For example, while there are many people who are very effective at maintaining an organization, fewer enjoy trailblazing and entrepreneurial endeavors. Some leaders have a narrow management preference and gravitate toward very talented team members, while others can work with almost anyone. The profile identifies these tendencies, so the right leader can be chosen or developed to meet the needs of the division, department, and company.

Strategic Planning

Who is going to take the place of that key employee when they are promoted, retire, or move on to new opportunity? An ongoing process of succession planning is key to a thriving stable company. The profile is essential in identifying the right people to provide needed bench strength. Your Noll consultant is your professional partner in analyzing and making these important decisions.

Customized Outplacement

The profile provides the framework for individualized coaching for an employee that is identified for transition out of a company. In addition, a structured outplacement process is followed that takes an employee through the stages of acceptance to the point of taking action to find a position. Companies find that offering this support reduces the emotional impact on both the employee and company. Group outplacement can be accomplished in downsizings and closures of departments or facilities.

Some clients have found the profile to be so helpful in their professional lives that they also utilize it with their children and other young people in deciding on education or career goals. Many clients feel their Noll consultant is a partner in both work and life decision making.
